JWMS Media Center

JW MAC (JW Media Advisory Council) works with the media center staff to create a student-centered media center program. JW MAC meets each Wednesday after school.

JW MAC activities may include:

• Planning and promoting library events
• Decorating the media center
• Creating videos, posters, and slide shows to promote media center events
• Creating book displays
• Planning the annual Black-Eyed Susan Reading Celebration

Book Wars is a trivia-style competitive reading program. In the spring the Book Wars team will attend a competition with other middle school students across the county. The Book Wars team meets regularly during each grade level lunch.

Adopt-A-Shelf is an SSL opportunity that requires students to learn how to shelve books properly in the library. Students then select a section of the library that they will maintain. Students are responsible for shelving the books in their section. They also display books on their shelves and make sure their area is neat and orderly. Students who have adopted a shelf have their names displayed at the top of their section.
